Dearest Family and Friends of Connie,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to tell you that our beloved Connie peacefully passed away late last night, just about a year after Will went to his great reward. She was so loved by all of you and she had a long and incredible life. In fact she had three lives…her preFlorida years with family and golf friends, traveling all over the country and hosting parties and supporting her extended family. Her Florida years were filled with more golf, more parties, and lots of new friends, and warm weather to swim year round. They even had their own loving personal driver! She LOVED her friends! She played golf until she was 93!
This past year in her journey included Will’s passing, her broken hip, the loss of her sister Madeline, and the dreaded isolation of Covid. It was really tough but she faced the “new normal” with her typical tenacity, masking up, learning to FaceTime via iPad and turning up the hearing aids for the new 6 foot distance visits! My sister Annie and I were holding her hands as she took her last breath. It was peaceful. She had told us the night before that she was ready to go home.
A celebration of Connie and Will's lives will be held on Wednesday May 12th at 11:30 at Craig Memorial Park, 2600 Old Moultrie Road in St Augustine, FL for friends to say goodbye and send Will and Connie on their final journey. In lieu of flowers, if you would like, please consider a donation in Connie's memory to support the First Tee or your local Caddy scholarship fund. Connie would like that.
With love and gratitude,
Mary Franco
